Mosaic Web Services: Monitor, Manage and Control

This is what M2M is all about.

Monitor, manage and control through a web interface using familiar tools in a familiar way.

Lots of remote devices generate lots of data. Each device may contain several sensors each of which can be measuring different parameters.  Some devices may be able to switch or change settings for other remote equipment.

How do you display this mix of data from potentially thousands of remote devices so that they create a picture that makes sense and can be acted upon?

Mosaic Web is the answer.

Each item of data is represented on a ‘tile’ and the tiles can be placed on the screen to create exactly the picture you need – just like a mosaic.

This picture may include a snap-shot of current conditions, graphs of trends and highlight critical items.  Switches, dials and other controls can be added to emulate remote equipment.

And, pictures can be different for different people to reflect their particular needs.

Key features

Create the ‘Picture’

  • Data from each sensor can be displayed on a Mosaic ‘Tile’
  • A picture may be created from many ‘Tiles’
  • Information ‘Tiles’ can be configured and positioned to meet individual preferences
  • Virtual switches, knobs, dials, level controls and even clocks can be added to emulate the remote equipment control panel

Tiles can take many forms:

  • A visual display of a dial, gauge, meter, etc. used to represent a single data source
    • The format of the dial or gauge can be chosen by the user to represent the remote data source in a helpful way
    • Data displayed may be current, aggregated over time or historic
  • Many sources of similar data may be aggregated and displayed in a similar way
  • Some tiles may represent data over a period of time illustrating trends or a changing environment

Remote Control of remote equipment:

  • Emulate the remote equipment control panel by adding:
  • Switches to activate / deactivate
  • Dials and level controls to change settings
  • Virtual clocks to adjust timers
